Abstract: The article examines “New Lyrical Experiences” by M. N. Muravyov. This collection, written in 1776 and kept in the Department of Manuscripts of the Russian National Library, consisted of eight odes and was only partially published by L. I. Kulakova. This research introduces two of Muravyov’s texts into scientific circulation: “The Third Ode. On the Triumph of Peace in 1775” and “The Seventh Ode. To N. A. Lvov.” These works allow us to approach the reconstruction of the author’s idea, which, from our point of view, consisted in rethinking the contemporary odic tradition and charting ways to reform the genre. Each ode was an experience of parodying the techniques of famous authors: M. V. Lomonosov, M. M. Kheraskov, V. P. Petrov, I. I. Chemnitzer, N. A. Lvov, etc. Thus, Muravyov laid claim to the role of a major modern poet and showed that the usual ode’s images and techniques were outdated. Apparently, when Muravyov created this group of odes-parodies, he focused on the “Russian” odes of Voltaire, written in 1760–1770.
