Abstract:
The article introduces into scientific circulation A. A. Velyaminov’s manuscript, which had not previously become the subject of scholars’ attention. The author of the article gives a description of the manuscript and puts forward a hypothesis about the completed nature of the work. The value of the manuscript lies in the reconstruction of the history of the Caucasus from prehistoric times to the 1830s. The manuscript is structured within problem and chronological methods. The article analyzes its key motifs and emphasizes the possibility of influence of A. A. Velyaminov on M. Yu. Lermontov, who served under his command. The manuscript is provided with notes explaining individual lexemes associated with Caucasian realities.
