Abstract: The present paper deals with the “Travel to Georgia”, an anonymous article published in the “Moscow Telegraph” for 1833, and speculates upon its probable authorship. “Travel to Georgia” was unanimously perceived as a “chauvinistic article”, and the problem of its authorship has been left out of consideration. The paper also deals with the “Remarks on the ‘Travel to Georgia’, an article lately published in one of the Moscow magazines”, erroneously attributed to Marlinsky (A. A. Bestuzhev). Drawing on a number of letters and other documentary sources, the author makes it possible for the reader to conduct his or her own private investigation. All relevant extracts and fragments in the article are chronologically arranged and provided with non-judgmental commentary. The study makes it possible to conclude that “Travel to Georgia” may be attributed to Pavel Kamensky.
