Graduated in Romance languages department of Leningrad State University's Philological Faculty in 1973; in 1975, enrolled for a postgraduate study at the Institute of Russian Literature. Joined the Institute of Russian Literature's Theoretical Investigations department in December 1978.

Scientific and organisational activities:

Member of the editorial board of Gorky IWL RAS scientific journal “Two Centuries of the Russian Classics”.

Editor and compiler of the periodicals – scientific collections “Ivan Turgenev: new investigations and materials” (Moscow; St. Petersburg, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2016. Issues 1 – 4), Afanasy Fet: materials and investigations (St. Petersburg, 2010, 2013, 2018, 2020. Issues Issues 1 – 4), etc.

Scientific Secretary of Turgenev Encyclopedia.

Head of the publishing group for the Complete works and letters of Ivan Turgenev in 30 volumes (editor-in-chief of the Working Editorial Board) and the Complete works and letters of Afanasy Fet in 20 volumes (member of the Editorial Board).
